CAD Engineer

The CAD Engineer is a member of the project management team. The CAD Engineer is responsible for working with our project management and business development teams to engineer, draft, and model custom casework, millwork, metal work, and furniture using industry standards, best practices, and Edgework guidelines. This role is critical in helping us build functional, secure, and well-designed products, fixtures, and structures that meet our client’s needs.

Role Responsibilities: 

  • Create detailed and accurate shop drawings using computer-aided design (CAD) software for our production team to build from
  • Coordinate with project managers and fabrication team for details and manufacturability
  • Maintain timelines according to priorities designated by the operations team
  • Maintain neat file organization and detailed documentation for ease of collaboration and communication
  • Document critical details and communicate potential issues with Project Management team
  • Generate material reports and cut list reports for Ordering and Fabrication teams.
  • Optimize client designs for fabrication and installation according to industry standards, EWC guidelines, and best practices in coordination with fabrication teams
  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure detailed models are created per spec and all required data is included
  • Must be able to read and interpret architectural drawings and design documents
  • Working with team members to continue to develop process and best practices
  • Maintaining ongoing and productive communication with the Project managers throughout the project lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures and best practices

Required Skills:

  • Experience preparing detail drawings and high level of detail 3D models for construction and prefabrication
  • Experience using CAD to create models and shop drawings according to ASME standards
  • Experience in Fusion 360 and SketchUp preferred
  • Problem solving skills and high level of detail orientation required
  • Knowledge of millwork and metal joinery methods
  • Experience reading architectural drawings and interpreting design documents
Bonus Skills:
  • Experience programming CNC machines is a plus
