Slingin' Vegan Eats: Woodhouse Vegan

Nicole, Krista, Cara and Carla Woodhouse are on a mission to cultivate opportunities for people to find and explore vegan food. "There’s so much nostalgia wrapped up in our food and the ways we decide to celebrate and create around the dining table. Sharing our love for fab vegan eats and getting people jazzed about plant-based food," the Woodhouse women say is why they are excited about their new space.

Veganism is not a scary thing – it’s inclusive – so let’s dive into the things you can and want to eat and pull up a seat in their brand new restaurant. You'll find instant classics like mac 'n cheese, nachos, phish tacos, cupcakes and, of course, salad (and more) on constant rotation- they have plans to continue to expand their menu and offer brunch beginning in 2020.

The History

We first met Cara + Carla 7 years ago before we even started Edgework Creative. Over the years we've watched the Woodhouse women build the Woodhouse Vegan brand and we were thrilled to help them bring their space to life.

Woodhouse Vegan began initially as a catering business- helping people eat a more plant-based diet. As demand grew, they started doing a weekly pop-up at Oddfellows on Monday and Tuesday nights. Just a few weeks ago they opened their doors at a permanent location in Italian Village.

They proudly share that most of their regular clients aren't vegetarian, much less vegan. They come because the food is great (and we agree). We've spent many nights at the pop up with our kids and it has become a favorite restaurant of our family- kids too! Don't be shy, give it a try.

It's an honor for us to help bring their brand and space to life! Located in an old brick building in Italian Village, across the street from Hoof Hearted Brewing, the Woodhouse women wanted a space that was intentional and flexible- count. us. in.

Their design intent was mid-century modern meets industrial vibe, and we knew just the furniture to showcase this- The Mast Collection (tables + stools). "Edgework Creative worked with us extensively on the design, coming up with ways to blend into our décor, maximize space, and restyle furniture layout for special events."

"We have a small space and creating an environment that gave seating to as many
people as comfortably possible was a must," Cara shares. They have seating for 50 in their new restaurant and you'll likely see a few familiar faces while enjoying a meal there.

We love working with clients that have design constraints and helping them find solutions. Woodhouse Vegan needed to have flexible furniture, maximize seating and have ADA compliant seating. This offered the opportunity to modify our Mast Table with a telescoping base to allow for the tables to be at either standard dining table height (ADA compliant) or at bar height for events and a more casual environment.

The Woodhouse women have a favorite seat- at one of 7 seats at the bar. "Our open kitchen concept allows diners to see how their food is prepared and to feel the passion of the entire staff."

The Mast stool now has 2 upgraded options- a swivel and a back rest. Because Woodhouse knows how to party, they chose both options!
