Table Talk: A Family's Favorite Gathering Place

Table Talk: A Family's Favorite Gathering Place

Posted by Edgework Admin on

Let's Talk Tables. We build a lot of them... more than any other piece of furniture. It's our most requested type of project, and no two are exactly alike. So, what's the story of these pieces after they leave our shop?

Get to know our work from a more intimate perspective as we go behind the scenes with some of our custom clients in this Table Talk series.

The Jentgen's are both our clients and friends, and we've done multiple pieces for their UA midcentury ranch remodel — ceiling beams, floating shelves and a gorgeous White Oak dining table (make sure you check out the blog feature we did of their home last summer). Talking tables with this family was a no-brainer, so here are a few questions from us about how they use and enjoy their custom Edgework Creative dining table.

What was the first meal you shared at your table?

I don’t remember the first meal we had, but there is ALWAYS someone sitting at it. We sit and drink coffee, check emails, or just sit and talk… it’s a favorite gathering place in our home.

What was your inspiration for the style and design of your table?

We created a more open floor plan during our home remodel, and the new space needed a statement piece to bring it all together. Our front entry has a direct sightline to the table and kitchen, so everyone who enters our home doesn’t leave without first admiring this table. We opted for a table design with a heavier base and sturdy top — it’s beautiful, yet indestructible.

How many people have you been able to fit around the table?

Our table seats 12 people comfortably, and we have definitely had it at full capacity on many occasions — holidays, cookouts, friends, book club… you name it.

What’s your favorite thing about your custom table?

Our favorite thing about this table is the design of the stacked wood table base and the beautiful finish of the natural White Oak.

Was the investment in a custom dining table worth it? Would you do it again?

We would absolutely recommend custom! The attention to detail, the collaborative process and being able to help design your own table… everything is amazing. You get all of the perks with custom, and the team at Edgework has a personal touch.
